I had problems paying my local taxes in one go, how can I avoid this in the future?

You can sign up for monthly direct debits so that you can spread payment of your local taxes over the year as from January.

Your taxes are paid by ten monthly direct debits from January to October. Each direct debit represents one tenth of the tax for the previous year.

This is a simple, practical and flexible means of payment.

You do not have to do anything as the process is automatic and your contract is renewed (unless you choose to cancel it) every year without any specific action being required.

It is a reliable means of payment that guarantees control over your payments.

You are informed of the date and amount of your direct debits in a schedule set out on your most-recent tax notice (or in a separate letter depending on when you sign up).

If your tax has increased in relation to the previous year, the direct debits will continue in November or even in December.

If your tax has decreased in relation to the previous year, the direct debits will stop once the amount owed has been reached.

If you pay too much, you will be automatically reimbursed on the bank account used for the direct debits.

For more information on signing up: on this website, go to the “Particulier” section > “Payer mes impôts, taxes, amendes...”  > “Je paye mes autres impôts” > “Le prélèvement mensuel”.
